David Ahl

David Ahl is a seasoned trial and appellate attorney who joined Feldman & Royle in 2024 after a distinguished career as a state and federal prosecutor. As a former homicide and sex crimes prosecutor, he has handled numerous complex and high-profile cases, including death-penalty litigation that reached the United States Supreme Court. David’s trial experience spans a wide array of criminal matters, from first-degree murder and sexual assault, to white-collar crimes, child exploitation, aggravated assaults, armed robberies, vehicular crimes, and DUIs. His dedication and success as a prosecutor earned him multiple awards throughout his career. David’s deep understanding of both state and federal law, coupled with his extensive litigation experience, makes him formidable advocate for clients facing serious legal challenges at any level of government.

Before joining Feldman & Royle, David Ahl worked at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix where he prosecuted federal offenses, including drug distribution, human smuggling, child exploitation, and white-collar crimes. As an Assistant U.S. Attorney, he worked closely with key federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, DEA, IRS, Department of Homeland Security, and Border Patrol. David also served as a Human Trafficking Coordinator, investigating large-scale organizations involved in the trafficking of adults and minors.

David Ahl also brings a robust background in appellate law. At the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, he worked in the Capital Litigation Section, prosecuting death penalty cases in both state and federal courts. He has presented oral arguments before the Arizona Supreme Court and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and drafted briefs for several appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court.

David’s legal expertise is further complemented by his advanced knowledge of criminal investigations. He is trained in digital forensics through programs sponsored by the Secret Service and Microsoft, and he has attended numerous trainings on homicide, sex crimes, and gang investigations. This background and understanding of criminal investigations allows David to identify weaknesses in the government’s case and develop strong defense strategies for his clients.
